One month in TNT Land !!!!

Registered for TNT May 9th

TNT kickoff – May 16th

First training session as a team – May 23rd

Wohoooo!!! It has been 0NE month of training!!!!

Time really flies!!!!

Listening to radio at work i heard about Team in training’s recruitment for endurance sports at Orange County, that’s where i have been for last two years. Going to school, working, salsa class, work outs at gym and aspiring to do more... I decided on attending the information session.....

“You wont regret it” , “Life changing experience” “running for a cause” “Make a difference” “Cure for cancer”

I registered for it!!!

TNT kickoff May 16th was a life changing experience... all the quotes above made perfect sense when I saw 300-400 people on a Saturday morning , in a basket ball court for a cause ..

FIND A CURE FOR CANCER!!!!!

Meeting the TNT organizers, mentors, coaches, team members, survivor team and Honored team members made me realize the seriousness of the commitment i had made of running a half marathon to raise money for cancer research.

Three of my close friends (Zainab, Ankur and Angeline ... thanks guys) who went with me for the kickoff, just to see what i was so excited about have been a strong support system since then. All of my friends and family were introduced to two new abbreviations... TNT and LLS (Team in Training / Lymphoma and Leukemia society).

Fund raising seemed to be a big challenge being an international student with limited contacts. Laura, my mentor emanates confidence and support. Talking to her ebbed away my fear of raising money. I decided on giving it my best shot from day one. My effusions about the training for a marathon were convincing enough for my friends to open their wallets even in bad economic situation. My loving family who has always supported me was at its best again. In a week, i had $1000 in pay core.

Yes I am Running –

Pneumonia had hit me bad when i was just 2 days old which aggravated and was followed by severe bronchitis asthma which emaciated me over the years.

Breathless and Stifling!! I would rest on my dad’s chest when he would sit through the night hoping i would feel a little better with the sunrise,

Yes, I have never been a runner!!!!

Yes, I ran my first mile with TNT!!!!!

It’s been a month… I am doing 4 miles!!!!!
